Stupid woman complains, Sam's Club pulls Bible from shelves

You may already be familiar with The Brick Testament - the site's been running since 2001, so you've had plenty of time to find it (or have it shown to you by friends).

"And he had 700 wives, princesses, and 300 concubines." --1 Kings 11:1

The site takes real Bible stories - not parodies, not jokes, the actual lines from the Bible - and meticulously illustrates them using Legos. They even have a a real, honest-to-god book, which is available in stores everywhere. But not at Sam's Club.

As reported by CNET, Sam's Club received literally twos of complaints about the material being "vulgar and violent," apparently from people who have never actually read their Bibles. It's a book filled with sexual acts and wild cruelty. That's why it was popular in the first place!

One of the complaints came from Tabitha Grace, a woman who was so incensed by her own lack of knowledge about her chosen religion that she posted nearly identical complaints about the book on Facebook and Amazon. Unsurprisingly, the thrust of her argument seems to be that the book is inappropriate for children. Allow us to raise a few salient points:

  1. Duh.
  2. Whoever said it was for children?
  3. Read your damn Bible, you stupid slag!

The Bible is filled with vulgar and violent content. Every word in The Brick Bible: a New Spin on the Old Testament comes unedited from the pages of the Bible! And the author, Brendan Smith had already expurgated several passages at the request of Sam's Club, which means that the content Tabitha Grace objected to isn't even in the book she's complaining about! For Christ's sake, Tabby, don't you know it's this kind of shallow, moralistic idiocy that makes Christians look bad?

Shallow, moralistic idiocy is the foundation of Christianity. As is violence.

I'd say that "loving one another" and "turning the other cheek" were the foundation of Christianity.

Now, the organized, state-supported Church, on the other hand, that's another story...

  2. VECTORFAN says:

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Just enjoy reading the brick site and try not to let one idiot's crusade take rent in your head.

  3. MontyPla says:

Oh my. A Christian woman complaining that the Bible isn't appropriate for children. This is just too good.

  4. Noy Tazi says:

Why is she reviewing a book she didn't buy? I can "research" a toy line til my bottom bleeds, but until I take a sample home, crack it open, and play around with it, I can't have a strong opinion on the product itself. And wouldn't you read something before considering or offering it as a gift? I mean, you don't see parents going out and buying violent, sexy video games for their children without even playing a demo or renting it first... oh wait... 😐
