Jesus Christ, more Kickstarters!

We begin with Biblical Adventures, from Chris Gawyrch:

There have been Bible action figures before, in much the same way there have been Bible videogames: that is to say, bad ones no fan of either the format or the basis would really want to associate themselves with. But now someone with talent and passion is looking to create a version that doesn't need to be cast into the lake of fire.

The first series includes two Jesuses, an angel, a demon, a statue, and John the Baptist, but things really start popping when we unlock the second series, with Moses and more.

And then soon after that came Almighty Legends from fan and custom artist Dacre Bush.

While Biblical Adventures is adapting some of the more human characters, Almighty Legends is aiming for higher forces, giving us the three archangels of Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy, as well as the four horsemen of the apocalypse. This one is starting simpler, with just the Angel of Death available to the start and everything else as a stretch goal, but the designs are great!

Both projects are in 1:12 scale, so 6" figures, meaning if you've ever wanted to see Batman an angel, now you can do that.

Those Almighty Legends wings are impressive!

I like that some (most?) of the Biblical Adventures figures are based on preexisting pieces of art.

I have to admit having very mixed feelings about this sort of thing. Like, on the one hand, they look great and it certainly feels that the people making them are doing so from a place of passion. On the other, even as a Muslim they feel kind of... I dunno... blasphemous?

Hahah. I'm not really sure how to express it. I guess it's one thing to have statues or stained glass windows or paintings depicting these sorts of religious figures, but quite different to have 'toys'?

I think it helps that, like JP said, they're mostly based on existing artworks. It adds a layer of separation. And fortunately means nobody's making things like "Rollerblade Attack Jesus" or weird variations like that...

Yes, that certainly helps. It's one thing to say "this is a toy of Adam", but quite another to say "this is a toy of Adam (as depicted in Michaelangelo's "The Creation of Adam")" .

But never mind weird variations, you just know sooner or later someone who buys these things is gonna take some sort of crazy pic like Jesus riding Ghost Rider's motorcycle, or Jesus and John the Baptist teaming up to fight Iron Sheik and Rowdy Roddy Piper in a wrestling ring or something. Hahah.

Oh, I'm sure Batman's beat up an angel. After all, that was the second arc of the Morrison JLA run....
