<\/p>\n#191 - Transforming Thing\/Herald Silver Surfer<\/h3>\n

Pilot Ben Grimm first turned into the Thing after being bathed in We've talked about this before, but Jack Kirby didn't draw the Thing with rocky skin: he drew him with hide like a dinosaur. It was the inkers who made Thing rocky, and eventually Jack followed suit. At first glance, this Thing is mostly identical to this Thing<\/a> - he's got all the same add-on pieces, but not the paint wash to darken them up. Instead of his mouth being open, this one just has a big frown.<\/p>\n And if that's all the figure offered, I wouldn't have bought this set. As Rustin revealed<\/a>, Norrin Radd originally became the Silver Surfer to steer the Galactus<\/a> away Herald Silver Surfer is not quite as \"busy\" a design as Cosmic Silver Surfer<\/a> was, which is nice. He's very detailed, but it doesn't go overboard. His surfboard is the same as that figure, but this time he gets a neat new piece to fit on the end. It's a portal in space, made from wavy translucent purple plastic with a jagged edge and some black Kirby dots in the center. He gets new energy effects for his hands done in the same color. I'm not sure how Art Asylum decided that \"the Power Cosmic = purple,\" since it's generally been shown as a lot of different colors in the comics, but it does contrast very nicely.<\/p>\n <\/center><\/p>\n The Juggernaut<\/a>, a.k.a. Cain Marko, was a prisoner on The Raft when the Hammer of Kuurth crashed into it. Marko picked it up and was possessed by As detailed in our AvX<\/i> Minimates review<\/a>, we pointed out that Juggernaut lost his Juggernauty powers because Cyttorak was pissed at him. It wasn't just<\/b> because he'd been possessed by Kuurth, but because he'd allowed<\/b> himself to be: using his existing powers, he could have thrown the control off if he wanted to. Kuurth's costume is very similar to Juggernaut, but with a lot more orange panels and yellow outlines (the sure sign of \"Asgaardian origins\" in Fear Itself<\/i>). The hands and helmet are new: we can see his teeth through the mouth-hole, but the six eyeholes are just painted on. Kuurth's hammer is a simple drum shape, with a fairly short handle.<\/p>\n When a strange hammer landed near the Hulk, he picked it up Yes, and then he came back down in Transylvania, where he fought Dracula<\/a>. Nul is wearing a lot more clothes than Hulk usually does - only his chest is bare. He has banded silver arms, and brown sections on his pants that are even darker than Kuurth's. He still gets the glowing yellow lines, though so many of them are on the silver (where they barely contrast at all) that it's easy to not see them. The ones on his chest and running around the sides and back of his head are much more eye-catching. Nul's hammer is more square than Nul's, with a flat face and a tapered point in the back, as well as a long handle that terminates in a metal loop.<\/p>\n <\/center><\/p>\n Yes, that's the same bio \"Flame On\" Human Torch<\/a> had, so it doesn't tell us anything about why he's called Nova Flame HT. Johnny uses the term \"nova blast\" to refer to his maximum heat output, most often released in an omnidirectional wave around him - a giant expanding fireball, in other words. This figure is just a normal looking What really makes this an interesting release, however, is his base. It's a two-piece conglomeration that features a single footpeg, allowing him to stand\/hover in front of a flaming 4 in a circle - the Fantastic Four's emergency signal. It's nicely designed, and not something we've ever seen before. It would be nice if it could be raised up a little higher, since it's mostly obscured when the figure is on the footpeg.<\/p>\n The ruler of the Negative Zone, the insectoid tyrant called Annihilus Re-elected? The Negative Zone has elections? Do the alien bug monsters have to show their ID to prevent alien bug monster voter fraud? Probably not: that would be a ridiculous idea!<\/p>\n Annihilus has a very distinctive look that this Minimate handles nicely. The collar and spiked shoulder pads are one piece, with pegs on the back for his wings to attach. His belt is new, but other than the sculpted gloves, all his costume details are painted on. His face looks both robotic and insectoid, like it should, and his pink-and-green colorscheme is terrific. It's not at all washed out like Hasbro's was<\/a>. The set includes two disc bases, but also a flight stand for Anni.<\/p>\n <\/center><\/p>\n Seriously? The guy who got the fire powers was named \"Pyreus\"? A bit on the nose, don't you think? It would be like if Terrax's real name was \"Stony O'Houlihan,\" or Silver Surfer was \"Tidal-Forces Jones.\" Talk about your nominative determinism! Firelord was Galacts' third herald, and wears a '70s-tastic yellow costume and red boots over his orange skin. See, because he's like fire! His chest and face are painted a different color than his limbs, for some reason. He has new fiery hair, an orange \"exhaust cloud\" flight stand, and his Gabriel Lan served with Pyreus Kril as a Nova Corpsman before being If the original idea behind Galactus was \"the Fantastic Four<\/a> fight God,\" then Airwalker takes that analogy to extremes: he is clearly just an angel. He's wearing an armored breastplate, a skirt, big gloves, and armored bands on his legs, making him look like a Roman legionnaire - and of course, he has giant flaming wings on his back. You'd think that would make him more of a \"fire flier\" than an \"air walker,\" but such is the crazy mixed-up world of comicbooks. His cap is new, with a tuning fork on the forehead, and there's a single-foot hover stand so he can lift off from the ground (though the fit in his foot is quite loose).<\/p>\n![](\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/mmmtthss1.jpg\" "\\"Transformation")
<\/a>cosmic radiation, and his skin was transformed into orange rock. He has since reverted to human form several times, but rarely for very long.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/a>this toy is called \"Transformation Thing\" because you can remove all his stony extras to reveal a plain Benjy Grimm underneath (well, with the addition of the new head, hands, feet and waist, but you get the idea). To help the Ben Grimm parts blend in with the Thing parts, he's wearing an orange flight suit (which could totally stand in for a prison uniform in a pinch). His name is printed on the right side of the chest, while the left side and his left shoulder have patches featuring a rocket logo. His suit is unzipped partially, allowing us to catch a glimpse of the black shirt he's wearing beneath it, and there's a single pocket on the front of his left leg, just above the knee.<\/p>\n<\/a>from his homeworld of Zenn-La. He still occasionally fills this role, seeking unpopulated planets for his master to consume.<\/i><\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n#192 - Juggernaut As Kuurth\/Hulk as Nul<\/h3>\n
Kuurth, Breaker of Stone, becoming one of the seven Worthy.<\/i><\/p>\nand was transformed into Nul, Breaker of Worlds. As one of the Serpent's Worthy, Nul spread fear until he was knocked into orbit by Thor.<\/i><\/p>\n

<\/a>Believed dead following a battle against Annihilus in the Negative Zone, Johnny Storm was recently revealed to be alive and well, and has resumed his position with the Fantastic Four.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/a>Human Torch, trans orange with black vertical lines painted on him, though he does get the fancy new \"fire\" feet and a new piece that covers both his shoulders and his head in flames. Oh, also the same energy balls Silver Surfer<\/a> had.<\/p>\n<\/a>is always seeking to conquer new lands and is endlessly reincarnated through his offspring. He was recently re-elected.<\/i><\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n#194 - Pyreus Kril the Firelord\/Gabriel the Air-Walker<\/h3>\n
<\/a>Pyreus Kril was a Nova Corpsman<\/a> before volunteering to fill the role of Herald of Galactus. With his fire-welding powers, Firelord was formidable member of the resistance against the Annihilation Wave.<\/i><\/p>\ngiant flaming Q-Tip<\/s> double-ended fire staff. It's molded from a very<\/b> soft material, so he has trouble holding it.<\/p>\n<\/a>abducted by Galactus and made a Herald. When he was killed by the Ovoids, Lan's soul was placed inside a robot body.<\/i><\/p>\n
