So yesterday<\/a>, NECA quietly revealed that they'll be making a Robocop figure:<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, we've already had a really quite good Robocop figure<\/a> in the Movie Maniacs line, but NECA has a reputation for upping the quality of figures that McFarlane made in the past. Usually, though, there's a lot of room for improvement, and in this case, that's just not true. So here's a wishlist of things I want to see with NECA's Robocop toy:<\/p>\n

  1. A holster in the leg<\/a><\/b>. This was one of the major complaints with Todd's version: in the movie, Robocop can store his big fancy gun inside his right thigh, but the toy didn't follow suit. So let's make it happen, NECA. I was all set to say it probably couldn't be done on a figure this size, but then this image of an upcoming Figma release<\/a>. That's the same general size - not a 12\" figure or anything - and sure enough, it has a fully functional holster. It can be done!<\/li>\n
  2. Removable helmet<\/a><\/b>. The scene where someone asks Robocop his name and he replies \"Murphy\" is a triumphant moment, showing that for all the technology they've used to keep him alive, for all that his identity has been stripped away, he's still human inside. He isn't a machine, he's a man, and anything less misses the point of the character. So give us a removable helmet, and let us see Peter Weller's face beneath!<\/li>\n
  3. ED-209<\/a><\/b>. WE NEED AN ED-209! Not paired with the Robocop figure, obviously, but a box set. I want one. If NECA can make Regan in her bed<\/a>, they can make an ED-209. They have the negotiating power to make it happen. I believe in them!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now, I'm not delusional. I know most of these things are pipe dreams. But that's the point: they're dreams, they're wishes, they're what I'd ask in a world with no limitations or realities of production. They're the things that would make me buy Robocop straightaway and nominate him for ToY<\/a>. Will I buy him even without the gun and the helmet? Maybe - it depends on how much better than the McFarlane version it is...<\/p>\n
