They both invite their friends, which in Summer's case means a lot of kids from school, and in Rick's case means a lot of outer space weirdos: Birdperson, Gearhead, Abradolf Lincler... and Squanchy.

Squanchy is a methed-out cat creature wearing a bow tie. He looks like Smarf from Too Many Cooks. He comes from Planet Squanch, and his species are the Squanchies. As you can tell, a whole ton of work went into creating this guy and his rich, layered backstory. (Like the Smurfs, Squanchies use the word "squanch" to mean pretty much anysquanch.)

Part of Rick and Morty Mystery Minis Series 1, Squanchy was fairly easy to identify inside the blind box, because he's so small - even counting the big tuft of fur on his forehead, he doesn't reach the 2¼" mark. Unfortunately, he wasn't the only small figure in the assortment, so you still had a chance of pulling Mr. Poopybutthole (1:6), Snowball (1:24), Ghost in a Jar (1:72), or Tinkles (1:72). Squanchy was 1:36, for the record. He's an orangish tan, with lighter patches on his forehead, ears, cheeks, hands, and chest. He has a reddish soul patch - matching the tip of his otherwise-bare tail - and a blue nose, and his wiry whiskers are separate molds glued in place.

Series 1 of the Rick and Morty Mystery Minis may have featured normal little Squanchy, but Series 2 had something else.

In the Season 2 finale, "The Wedding Squanchers," Rick and his compatriots fall into a trap laid by the Galactic Federation. In order to save his friends, he reveals he has the ability to Hulk out, turning into a giant, monstrous version of himself. He switches from meth to PCP, basically.

Brute Squanchy is more than 3" tall, making him a giant by Mystery Mini standards. He keeps a lot of his existing features, like the raggedy fur on his forehead or the naked, rat-like tail, but he now gets thick fur on his shoulders, his little soul patch grows into a full goatee, and his feet are the same light color as his hands. The toy's fur is orange, rather than the tan it was when he was smaller, but that's not a mistake: the same thing happened in the cartoon, so if it's not meant to be that way, it's not Funko's fault.

All the figures in Rick and Morty Mystery Minis Series 2 were available in a 1:12 ratio, contrary to what the back of the boxes showed. Big Squanchy was super easy to find, being the biggest, heaviest figure in the entire assortment - even compared to the (also quite large) members of the Vindicators.

<i>And now, some more OAFEry:</i>

cus anime is teh s uck

DC Bombshells Mystery Minis - Harley Quinn review

Walking Dead Mystery Minis: Well Zombie review

The best of Barbie posters

Frozen Mystery Minis - Marshmallow review

<i>And now, some more OAFEry:</i>Walking Dead Mystery Minis: Deanna Monroe (In Memorium) review Walking Dead Mystery Minis: Rick Grimes review Disney Afternoon Mystery Minis - Rescue Rangers review Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 60th Anniversary Mystery Minis - Misfit Elephant exclusive … Continue reading →

[19,250
63,291
post-30243","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog-exclusive-review","category-funko","tag-adult-swim","tag-mystery-minis
["GET
