Right below it? That kind of foolishness is usually reserved for GameStop! Dizzy Bones lives on the second floor.

Maracas are used as musical instruments today, but their origin is pre-Columbian, and back then they were used in religious ceremonies to represent and summon spirits. They're basically a dried gourd with seeds or pebbles rattling around inside, though now they're often made from wood or plastic. Especially when they're a toy. This one is an off-white, with red and green decorations - a very Mexican colorscheme. There are sculpted patterns on the outside of the maraca, rather than it being completely smooth, adding a little visual and tactile excitement to the surface.

BotBots are easy to convert. Here, you just open the shell around the head, pull the arms out to the side, and extend the legs.

Dizzy Bones loves to celebrate, and a celebration calls for music! He's constantly shaking out rhythms. All that shaking has really rattled his brains and scrambled his circuits. He can't walk in a straight line, so he rhumbas everywhere he goes.

Dizzy Bones has a really cute robot mode, with sculpted details that make him look like he's wearing a fancy jacket, and his eyes are off-kilter swirls. He's even wearing a black sombrero! The sculpted details on the inside of the dome almost feel like a cartoon character seeing birdies after getting hit on the head. It's a little hard to get him to balance, but they made the feet large enough to give him a fighting chance.

Part of Series 2, Dizzy Bones is available in Music Mob and Spoiled Rottens 5-packs, or a Swag Stylers 8-pack. And the mold was recolored for Series 3.

The Lost Bots can be found all over the mall, with no rhyme or reason as to where they are. Why, it's almost like they've gotten... misplaced, or something? If you look at the art, you'll find Smooth Shaker riding the elevator - which, amusingly, was the same place another Lost Bot was located. Maybe they're lost together.

Like Series 2's Dizzy Bones, Smooth Shaker is a maraca. That's good, because as an instrument, they're usually played in pairs, with one having a higher pitch than the other. How would you even write musical notation for maracas? "Shake. Now shake harder. Keep shaking. Shake some more. Shake differently." This version is mostly black, with yellow and green detailing and a few spots of red. The maraca can either lay down (like a real one would) or stand on end (if you're careful).

BotBots are easy to convert. Here, you just open the shell around the head, pull the arms out to the side, and extend the legs.

Smooth Shaker is all about chilling out and letting the maracas roll. She doesn't bother anyone, and doesn't let anything bother her. Smooth Shaker just wants to shake it to the beat and get other bots dancing along. Peace, love, and groovy times!

Since Smooth Shaker's body is black, it's harder to see the sculpted details than on Dizzy Bones (and the hat doesn't stand out as strongly), but the overall look is much more traditional mariachi. The red necktie pops against the yellow stripe on the chest. The white face really accentuates how much the head looks like a skull.

Smooth Shaker is available in a Playroom Posse 5-pack, or Fresh Squeezes and Goo Goo Groupies 8-packs.

And now, some more OAFEry:

Transformers: Legends Class Gold Bumblebee review

Transformers BotBots Glam Glare Fancy Flare review

The cosmic ballet goes on

Children of the '90s Try to Explain '80s Cartoons

Transformers 40th Anniversary special

When the second series of Transformers BotBots came out, the diagram of the mall showed us that the Music Mob had two stores: one on the third floor, and another right below it on the second.
