Today, the very notion of that should give you the heebie-jeebies. The cancellation of the 2020 con season does have one advantage: it allows us to finish the reviews of last year's Transformers BotBots "Con Crew" exclusive set. We're already done with the Meet n' Greets and the Line League, so today let's wrap up Fantastic Fuelers.

If there's one thing you absolutely, unquestionably need when you're attending a convention, it's... a backpack. But one of the things you should always make sure you've got in your backpack? Snacks! You're going to get hungry while waiting in line, and you never want to give up your space. So throw in some granola bars, or in this case, a bag of chips. Hot chips, judging by the red pepper on the front. Did you know peppers change names when they're dried? Like, straight off the vine, a fresh jalapeño is just a jalapeño; dry and smoke it, and now it's a chipotle. Isn't that neat? This bag's logo shows a pepper above flames, so either it's fire-roasted flavor, or it's very, very hot. The bag itself is red, with yellow and black stripes running past the logo, and the edges are black.

BotBots are simple to convert. Rip open this bag of chips by spreading the panels from the front, rotating the legs down, then pull the arms out of the sides and turn them down.

In a special session with Hal A. Peno, he'll reveal hot tips for staying fueled up. Arrive early for ideal seating, the first three rows will be pelted with the soggy chip crumbs spewing from his always-full mouth as he talks.

Wow, that's even grosser in 2020 than it was in 2019. Hal is short and wide, with a belligerent look on his white face. The blue eyes are wildly different sizes, and his mouth is open in a shout. The fact that he appears to have a little bit of blonde hair falling onto his forehead is unexpected. We still get the chips' logo on the robot's chest. The way the panels end up sitting behind and beside the head make him look even broader than he otherwise would. He's a little chonky boi!

This mold is shared with the Series 3 figure Treat Elite (a blue bag of pretzels), who was only available blind-packed and was released fairly soon after this set. It also showed up in Series 4 as Miss Mixed, a bag of trail snacks.

Sadly, Transformers BotBots Series 4 doesn't have an insert showing the interior of the mall. Yes, it was nice to know where the stores were, but the real appeal was seeing all the little bots running around and having fun. Imagine what type of shenanniganry Miss Mixed might be getting into with her fellow Wilderness Troopers!

As far as designs go, this bag of trail mix is about as uninspired as you can get. The sculpt is good, of course: the bag itself is wrinkled and uneven, as though it were really full of snacks, and the top and bottom are crimped shut as they would be, but whatever food company produced this stuff needs to hire some dang graphic designers: the packaging is just a green bag with a white circle in the center. Plain white. Nothing at all in it. Mmm-mmm-mmm, a big bag of "White Dot" brand trail mix; delish!

BotBots are simple to convert. Rip open this bag of chips by spreading the panels from the front, rotating the legs down, then pull the arms out of the sides and turn them down.

When Miss Mixed gets excited about hiking a difficult trail, the other bots think she's NUTS. But sometimes her fellow bots need a little motivation. Luckily her positive energy is constantly RAISIN' her team's spirits. When somebot says they can't, Miss Mixed is there to remind them: Yes, PE-CAN! The perfect mix of optimism and enthusiasm.

Since a couple of the steps to convert her involve pulling things to the side and no steps involve stretching anything up or down, this ends up being a very wide robot. The half of the white circle that remains on the chest blends directly into the face, making it look like she's wearing a scoop-neck shirt. Her face is printed with the same kind of swirly eyes as Latte Spice Whirl, above a lop-sided smile. Between the eyes and the fact the bag is green, it feels like Miss Mixed is perhaps a little more "edibles" than simply "edible," if you catch our drift. Like she's going out for nature hikes just to THC what she can see. The packaging art even makes it look like she's confused by her own hands.

This bag of <s>CBD gummies</s> "trail mix" is available either blind-packed as #2, or in one of the Claw Machine sets.

<i>And now, some more OAFEry:</i>

Transformers Tuesday shirt

Michael Bay, master of innovation

Transformers Tuesday

Transformers stop-motion - Prime vs. Menasor

Transformers Kre-O Scorponok review

In 2019 (what was known as "the before times"), it seemed like a real great idea to pack 135,000 people shoulder-to-shoulder in a poorly ventilated building where you could barely move and had to shout directly at each other's faces … Continue reading →

[19,8,135
367,14
post-31901","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog-exclusive-review","category-hasbro","category-sdcc","tag-sdcc-2019","tag-transformers
["GET
