For instance, this bot is a member of the Toilet Troop (even hanging out by the plunger store down on ground level), but there's nothing about them that actually belongs with that tribe.

This is an aerosol can, just a cylinder with caps ate the top and bottom, and a nozzle sticking up off the center of the lid. Okay, that's fine: it's part of the Toilet Troop, so maybe it's spray-on deodorant, or spray cleaner, or even air freshener for those extra-stinky days? Nope: spray paint. A can of spray paint. Who's keeping spray paint in their bathroom and why? The shape of the altmode looks good enough, but the paint decos need work: the robot's face is not concealed at all, and the pink on the sides is too incomplete to be a design on the bottle, but too precise to just be spilled paint. It just doesn't look good.

Even the conversion is disappointing. You pull the arms out to the side, spread the feet, and flip the nozzle over. At least if the cap of the can had to be raised, we might get to conceal the robot face, but no: I thought it might do that, and ended up just pulling the lid off entirely.

Frohawk isn't afraid to break the rules. She can paint on any surface, no matter how hard it is to get to. No bot can figureout how she does it! No one knows where she'll strike next!

Frohawk is a stumpy little Bot, since the legs only go out to the sides, not down. Her face consists of a blue visor for the eyes and triangular sneer that, coupled with the pink mohawk, really sells the idea of her being a punk. Again the colors on the body are disappointing, with the magenta sections looking neither random nor intentional. Frohawk could have been good, but in practice feels half-baked.

Part of Series 1, Frohawk was available in a Toilet Troop 5-pack, or a Greaser Gang 8-pack. The mold was also reused in Series 2 (as Rebugnant) and Series 3 (as Stringaling).

Tucked into a ground-floor corner in the third part of the BotBots' mall is a seasonal store that's making the transition from Halloween displays to Christmas, and that's where the Seasons Greeters hang out. Stringaling is playing outside the front door.

The things we said about Frohawk in Series 1 are all still true here in Series 3: this is an aerosol can, with a decent sculpt but kind of messed up paint. Not even a token effort is made to conceal the robot's face, and the designers have chosen to leave big gaps in the decorative paint that just make the toy look incomplete. This is a black can with a pink lid and yellow nozzle, and thin yellow and blue lines in various spots on the sides.

(As bad as it is, Series 2's Rebugnant was even worse, with the can's label right beneath the robot face, so you couldn't even turn the toy around to pretend not to see it.)

To convert, flip the nozzle over, spread the feet to the sides, and pull the arms out. Simple. Too simple.

He sprays his string on everything, he's the super silly Stringaling! What's more silly than Stringaling? A clown and a got in a boxing ring? A cat and a dog going skydiving? Not a thing! Nothing is sillier than Stringaling! He's the super silliest Stringaling!

We started today's review by talking about how sometimes BotBots don't make sense, and this is another fine example. Stringaling is part of the Seasons Greeters, yeah? And he's shown hanging out by Wizengreen the Giftsmas tree, yeah? So you'd think he was a can of flocking, for making the tree look snowy, yes? No. He's silly string. The stuff you play with outside in the summer, not put on a dang Giftsmas tree! Stringaling has the same blue visor as Frohawk, but a bit toothy smile instead of a sneer. Big whoop.

Stringaling is available in two Seasons Greeters 5-packs (one of them as the blind-pack for some reason) and a Fresh Squeezes 8-pack. But really, don't feel like you need to get any version of this mold; none of them are great.

<i>And now, some more OAFEry:</i>

Transformers Tuesday gets real cute

Flippin' through Previews - August '12

BotBots blindpack codes

Transformers BotBots Sugar Breath and Milton reviews

Nice, but still not as good as the truck I used to have

Not all the Transformers BotBots make sense.
