\"Mini-Figure<\/p>\n

Guess who's back! Back again. MotU Minis<\/i> are back; tell a friend!<\/p>\n

Mattel is really pushing hard to get Masters of the Universe<\/i> back into the public consciousness, and Walmart seems to be their delivery system: it started with the retro-styled WWE figures, and now is beginning to move on to actual MotU<\/i> figures. There are old designs with new articulation, plus the rebranded \"Eternia Minis,\" made up of cancelled Series 2 figures. And also new versions of He-Man and Skeletor.<\/p>\n

The MotU Minis<\/i> did feature versions of He-Man and Skeletor, <\/a>but not normal ones: Mattel, being just awful at everything they tried, had already made an SDCC set of the two of them<\/a> (in the wrong scale), so they went with the \"Battle Armor\" costumes instead.<\/p>\n

He-Man uses the same arms and legs as the older version<\/a>, but gets a new chest (duh) and a new head that's still squinting and grimacing, but is showing more of his teeth. HIs legs don't match the rest of his skin, so it looks like he's wearing pantyhose. The only accessory is the Power Sword - while the MotU Minis<\/i> all had two accessories, the Eternia Minis<\/i> each only get one.<\/p>\n

They're also not sold in two-packs this time, despite the fact that we're <\/a>reviewing these two together; this time they're single-packed.<\/p>\n

Like He-Man, Skeletor reuses a few parts: although he's ditched the metal breastplate<\/a> for his usual strappy chest-harness, the arms and legs are the same he had before. Hey, is that why the old figure has the leather skirt instead of the fur undies? Way to plan ahead, guys! It's hard to tell if the head is reused; the colors here are inspired by the cartoon, so his skull is yellow, rather than spooky green. His one accessory is his magical ram staff.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The Minis only swivel at the neck, waist, and shoulders. Yes, despite the shoulders looking like they should be balljoints. The packaging is a tiny version of Castle Grayskull, with pegs on top for the figure's feet. It's just a two-piece shell molded in green, but at least you don't have to buy a bunch of them to complete a BAF<\/a>, right?<\/p>\n

\"Mini-Figure<\/p>\n

Remember the Evil Horde's Slime Pit playset? It came with a mini-comic <\/a>showing the Pit in action: Hordak forced He-Man to get slimed, turning him into an obedient zombie. That was in 1986. Fast forward to Q2 2017, when The Loyal Subjects did an Action Vinyl<\/i> they specifically called \"Slime Pit\" He-Man (that September Super7 also released a 2\" \"Micro Japanese Vinyl\" He-Man in translucent green, but they also did other characters in the same style, so it's just a coincidence). And then, like Dreamwave breaking the idea that Ultra Magnus'<\/a> inner robot could be its own thing, we started getting more Slime Pit He-Mans from other companies - POP!<\/i>s, ReAction<\/i>s, etc. And also this Eternian Mini<\/i> in Series 1.<\/p>\n

For whatever reason, Mattel doesn't use the \"Slime Pit He-Man\" name for their versions; rather, he's always \"Horde Zombie He-Man.\" Also, they make him from translucent plastic, apparently confusing \"a character covered in goop<\/a>\" for \"a character made from goop<\/a>.\" This mini is the same mold as the regular release, just, you know, translucent green. With his hair and clothes painted. Is he any rarer than any other Series 1 figure? No telling - I just looked for the pack marked with an H<\/a>, then didn't need to look any more. Instead of a sword, he comes with an axe. Also painted instead of clearish.<\/p>\n

<\/a>But here's a question for you: if Mattel was already making this figure out of unusual plastic instead of the normal stuff, why not make him glow in the dark? That woulda been a ton cooler! Worked for Scareglow<\/a>. And would have had just as much to do with the original as translucence does.<\/p>\n

Horde Zombie\/Slime Trap He-Man was not part of the cancelled MotU Minis<\/i><\/a>, so he's something created specifically for this soft reboot.<\/p>\n
