At the rate we've been going with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oafe.net\/blog\/?p=35855\"><i>Elf<\/i> Advent Calendar<\/a>, I didn't think we'd be getting Buddy himself until the very end, but here he is on Day 18! <i>Elf<\/i> was Will Ferrel's big breakout hit, proving he'd have a career path post-<i>SNL<\/i>. The North Pole parts of the story were based directly on the Rankin-Bass Christmas specials, which is why the elves dressed exactly like the ones seen in <i>Rudolph<\/i> and similar holiday specials.
