The character has been part of the line since 1983, and since this is only his second-ever figure, he's always worn the same uniform.<\/p>\n<p>However, when Ron Rudat was designing the character in late 1981, he originally had a different appearance, with a vest that has various pouches and a holster, short sleeves, and various red crosses on his gear and helmet:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oafe.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/doc_original.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.oafe.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/doc_original-160x300.jpg\" title=\"click to embiggen\" width=\"160\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The same style of vest was used for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oafe.net\/yo\/gij25airb.php\">Airborne<\/a>, just with more stuff sculpted over the top of it, but this is still a unique look for Doc.<\/p>\n<p>(via Bill Byers' Pre-Production G.I.
