This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of blog posts memorializing cancelled toys. Our figure today is Hasbro's Fortnite<\/i> Drift.<\/p>\n

McFarlane<\/a> and Jazwares<\/a> both released their versions of Drift-chan, so it should be no surprise that Hasbro was going to as well:<\/p>\n

That's been identified as a test shot, but the colors don't back the claim up: test shots are just done with whatever plastic is available, to test the molds; the fact that so many of his colors are pretty much final (he's just missing the detail tampos) says he was almost ready to go into production.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

While there has been no official announcement of the line's cancellation, they never officially announced Overwatch<\/i>, either, and we all know how that went<\/a>. Toy licenses typically go for three years these days, meaning Hasbro still has the right to make 6\" Fortnite<\/i> toys through the end of 2024, and thus there's still a chance we may see some more figures drop in, but I'd be surprised to see it happen.<\/p>\n

As a bonus, here's a different<\/b> Drift cancellation!<\/p>\n

Jazwares' Drift had the removable face feature, but didn't actually come with an alternate plate to replace it. However, when our old favourite Dave Cortes handed in the sculpt, there very much was<\/b> an unmasked human face intended to be included, which would have allowed you to accurately depict Drift-sama-sensei-senpai-san-sama... kun in more than one style.<\/p>\n

We'd ask what happened, but Jazwares also gave that 6\" figure a 4\"-scale sniper rifle, so things weren't going great at the time.<\/p>\n
