A <i>Hot Wheels<\/i> version of Optimus Prime that can actually change from a truck to a robot!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.oafe.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/hwop1.jpg\" title=\"Hot Wheels Optimus Prime\" width=\"300\" height=\"420\" class=\"aligncenter\"><\/p>\n<p>That's pretty awesome! As soon as it shows up on the store pegs, we'll be happy to pay the $5 or however much they want for it!<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Oh, but wait, no: they're not selling it at retail. And they're definitely not selling it for five dollars. It's an exclusive being sold on their website, and it's going to sell for <a href=\"https:\/\/creations.mattel.com\/products\/hot-wheels-transformers-optimus-prime-hxt02\" target=\"mat\" rel=\"noopener\">EIGHTY GODDAMN DOLLARS<\/a>! Mattel thinks you're stupid enough to pay <b>EIGHTY U.S. DOLLARS<\/b> for a toy not even worth one-tenth of that.<\/p>\n<p>The work that went into the toy's creation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C69OaQpJSE0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is impressive<\/a>, but not $80 worth of impressive. Not for a 3&#189;\" tall robot. <\/p>\n<p>At least we can trust that the money was used to pay all the workers a fair wage, right? We're certainly not about to show you a picture <a href=\"https:\/\/creations.mattel.com\/cdn\/shop\/files\/ddhidsnr3tdb7kqx55z8_9c450aaf-84cf-4e09-bd07-d273fc201619.jpg?v=1715361282\" target=\"mat\" rel=\"noopener\">from Mattel's own site<\/a> that suggests they used AI to write the box copy instead of paying a human to do it, are we?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.oafe.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/hwop2.jpg\" title=\"When Transformers Optimus Prime drove onto the scene, a fanbase rolled with it. The Autobots fearless leader became one of the most recognizable names in entertainment for decades. The Optimus Prime (G1) hit shelves in 1984 instantly becoming a huge hit in the toy space for both kids and collectors alike, with full transformation from a heavy-duty truck cab into a towering Autobot ready for battle. Hot Wheels and Transformers joined forces to authentically recreate a 1:64 scale Optimus Prime (G1) in Metal\/Metal. This Transforming collector piece comes with full graphics on top of the red and blue Spectraflame paint and Real Riders custom wheels.
