And this time, they're all based on Universal horror movies. But do note: that's not Universal Monsters, it's Universal Horror. Yes, there's a difference. The "Universal Monsters" are a specific set of classic characters; "Universal Horror" can just be any horror movie Universal Pictures put out. Which is how we start with The Black Phone.

Far from what one would consider a "classic" horror movie, 2022's Black Phone was minorly well received, and its child-abducting villain, dubbed "the Grabber," has a distinctive design if nothing else, so sure, why not put him in this line? It's mostly just a guy in black pants and a black short-sleeved shirt, though we do get a little bit of red for his turtleneck and the buttons on his collar. He's holding his arms wide, and has rings and a bracelet sculpted on. He's wearing his full devil mask, top and bottom halves, and there are dark shadows painted around the eyes.

Since the smiling mouth is just painted on, you'd think if they wanted to do a variant they'd have just changed it to a frown, or left it off entirely. Or perhaps a version of him with his top hat to complete the London After Midnight homage. Oooh, ooh, or maybe just with half the mask on, top or bottom! All seem like great choices, yeah? So why, instead, do we get a version that's the same exact figure, just in solid red? They even left the same smile (that and the eyes being the only paint on him). It's based on Creepy Duck Design's alternate movie poster, but it seems like a wasted slot. Maybe that's why he's all the way down at a 1:72 ratio, while the normal version is a robust 1:6. Guaranteed two Grabbers in every case? That's way too high for this nothing villain.

And now, some more OAFEry:

Heroes of the Storm Mystery Minis - Stitches

Walking Dead Mystery Minis: Tara Chambler review

Science Fiction Mystery Minis - Bender & Dr. Zoidberg reviews

Rick and Morty Mystery Minis - Squanchy review

Fallout 4 Mystery Minis - Mr. Handy review

And now, some more OAFEry:Deadpool Nerdy 30 Mystery Minis - Sherlock Deadpool review Disney Afternoon Mystery Minis - TaleSpin review Godzilla Mystery Minis - King Ghidorah review Stranger Things Mystery Minis - Demogorgon review Walking Dead Mystery Minis: Drowned Walker … Continue reading →

[19,250
291
post-45413","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-blog-exclusive-review","category-funko","tag-mystery-minis
["GET
