Our sixth Scarabus variant is Haures, a figure nearly as dark as Nergall<\/a>. He has black hooves, black fur, black skin, black horns, black armor, black gloves, black leg wraps, black accents on the shoulders and staff, and even black Timekeeper<\/a> armor. Black! His cape is a dark red, and the cloth bits of his costume are a dark reddish brown. A bit of lightness is provided by the metallic lavender used for his gems, his beard, and around his waist. It's the cape that really keeps him from being oppressively dark, but all the gloss black used on his upper body really blends together, so the detail sadly gets lost.<\/p>\n

Haures gets his name from the demon Flauros - back in the old days, when manuscripts had to be copied by hand, lower case E's and O's were easily transposed, and an Fl could easily be confused for an H, so Flauros and Haures were both the same demon. He was portrayed as a humanoid leopard, and had the power to answer questions about the past, present and future - if you contained him within the borders of a magic triangle, he would answer you truthfully, but if you didn't he would lie or otherwise mislead you. He could also destroy your enemies, including other demons.<\/p>\n

Rather than simply including a second variant face, Haures has a whole new head. No, it's not a panther; that's been done<\/a> before. For some reason, the Horsemen decided that the best choice for Haures was to make him a ram - maybe they thought it sounded like Aries and used that as inspiration. The figure includes the same furry neck covering Azazel<\/a> had, to ease the transition from head to body. The ram's head is just as black as Scarabus' was, with bright red eyes and gloss black horns.<\/p>\n

Even if Haures isn't one of your favorite Scarabus variants, you have admit that the color scheme is striking and the alternate head looks very nice. The red cape absolutely saves this one from being too<\/b> dark.<\/p>\n
