Lars

Lars comes from the sandy wastelands of the San Fernando Valley, where he makes all types of custom weirdness from the ancient cottage where he resides. Former art director and designer, he now spends his days trying to break into the toy business, survive the ravages of L.A. and denounce the current administration. Lars is easily the sexiest and oldest of the OAFEnet degenerates and brings much needed 'machismo' to the west coast toy scene.

1. What got you into customizing? What character was so cool that you just had to make it yourself?

I was looking for something to do during some recuperative time and saw a custom action figure on eBay that got my attention. It was pretty nice but made me realize I could do one just as good, if not better. I took a B:tAS Nightwing and turned him into a Green Lantern within a few days and was hooked.

2. What's your favorite custom?

So far, the best are the Green Lanterns which I add to my personal collection. The Amalgam Iron Lantern comes close to the top of the list.

Conan O'Brien

4. Who's your favorite hero/villain?

Green Lantern (the Hal Jordan version, thank you very much)/Emma Frost

5. Best thing about toys right now?

Variety and quality. Plus, the sculpting keeps getting better.

6. Worst thing about toys right now?

Too many fanboys buying up everything in the stores to sell on eBay!

7. What's your guilty pleasure?

Crank with a gasoline chaser.

8. Sculpt, paint or articulation?

Sculpt.

9. Mexican, Italian or Chinese?

Chinese. Cashew Nut Chicken rocks.

10. What's the first toy you remember getting?

A black plastic telephone.

11. Favorite toy of all time?

DCD Hawkman & Hawkgirl boxset

12. Favorite band?

Pretenders

13. We all buy a lot of toys; what do you actually collect?

Hawkman, Green Lantern, Ralph Wiggum, Microman, G-Force and assorted capsule toys from Asia.

14. Your most wanted toy line?

The entire line-up for the new Justice League Unlimited cartoon.

15. Who makes the best toys?

DC Direct.

16. What's your favorite candy?

Those l'il Dove chocolate eggs.

17. What toy that you never got as a kid have you sought out now that you're an adult?

Any rare or imported Hawkman or GL toys before 1980. Not too many left to get, though.

18. What obscure, unmarketable property would you love to have as figures?

Strangers With Candy's Jerri Blank

19. What are you into besides toys?

Music, movies, public sticker art, stand-up comedy and spending time with my beau.

20. What's your secret stash for finding toys?

Trading them for customs.
