OAFEnet Email Update for Thursday, February 28

The OAFEnet Email Update refuses to recognize the legitimacy of Leap Year.

Old Toys Month is nearly over, but OAFEnet is going out swinging. Like your hippie science teacher, we're living in the past, and will do anything not to have to let it go. Of course, in our world, that means giving you plenty of retro toy reviews. For instance:

  • Our Joe Friday review is a fairly expensive set, but one that gives you a lot for your money. Don't let the fact that it's several years old stop you from finding this one.
  • Make sure you're up to date on all the news with our ongoing Armchair Toy Fair Coverage. Well, "ongoing" in that we won't shut up about it.
  • Sunday's Star Wars review is actually a double - two old figures for the price of... well, two, really. It's not like Hasbro was going to cut the price in half or anything. But is it worth paying for both of these figures? We have all the details (and the financial forecast).
  • When it comes to the theme of Old Toys Month, not much can beat this week's Transformers Tuesday. Not only did the figure physically come out years ago, but it's an homage to a character who's even older.
  • Shocka appeared out of nowhere this week, just like one of the subjects of his unexpected review. For real fun, scroll down to the bottom and start up the YouTube video, then enjoy a listen while you read the review. See if it syncs up like The Wizard of Oz and Dark Side of the Moon. Ha Ha Ha! Moon.
  • And finally, Thursday's review comes to us from all the way back in 1939. Or maybe 2004, but 1939 sounds more impressive. If you want to see a beloved children's character killing random people (and who doesn't?), flap your wings over to see it all.
