This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of blog posts memorializing cancelled toys. Our figure today is SOTA's Darkstalkers Demitri Maximoff.
After the success of their Street Fighter line, SOTA planned to do a spin-off featuring Capcom's other major fighting game, the one with all the monsters.
Unfortunately, even Street Fighter was having trouble by then, and retailers didn't recognize the characters, so the line didn't get picked up. SOTA attempted to get the figures made via fan-direct preorders, but as this was 2006, their ideas were too far ahead of their time, and so they only got 561 of the 3500 orders they needed to go into production.
