This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of blog posts memorializing cancelled toys. Our figure today is SOTA's Lord Raptor.
Like we said last month, SOTA was going to do a spin-off/expansion of their Street Fighter line, featuring Capcom's monster-based 2D fighter, Darkstalkers.
The line took so long to come to fruition, SOTA actually commissioned two sculpts of Lord Raptor. The first, in the style of the early Street Fighter figures, was sculpted by Will Harbottle, who did several of the other figures in the line. The second, more in the style of the later Street Fighter Revolutions line, was done by Alexi Bustamente, and actually showed off his accessories: a couple guitars, and his odd sidekick creature thing, Le Malta.
Like Demitri, Lord Raptor was the subject of a too-soon-for-its-own-good online crowdfunding campaign, but failed to reach the 3500 orders needed. He was slightly more popular than Demitri, surprisingly, getting 570 preorders, once again proving that old familiar adage your grandpa was always quoting: rock and roll zombies trump swole vampires.
