Today's review of NECA's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "Archie Comics" Mondo Gecko repeated the fact that he was introduced playing with his band, Merciless Slaughter.
As is common in printed media, the fact someone was playing music was conveyed by putting musical notes around them - in this case, in the gutters between panels.
But you'll notice a lot of work seems to have gone into that, here; they're not just wingdings musical notes slapped down at random, they're on staves and everything. And the credits in the front of the issue say the music was "transcribed" by Dan Edwards. Does that mean the music can actually be played?
Well, apparently it can! Steve Lavigne and/or Ryan Brown said so. Sadly, while none of us can play music (and couldn't find anybody who can), we live in an amazing future, and there are sites that allow you to create your own sheet music and play it. The sound quality's not as great as we'd like for you, but it does exist, and that's got to count for something. So here, possibly for the first time since 1990, is the music Mondo and his band were playing:
Just try to imagine it sounding a little more "metal" and a little less "Casio."
