There's a Stargirl, waiting in the sky. She'd like to come
and meet us, but she IS LOYAL TO MOTHER RUSSIA! Because that's where this Stargirl is from. Varvara and Ipati Dugina were raising their daughter Kortni when a meteor crashed nearby and suddenly they were raising Kortni and Kara. Yes, in Bombshells, Supergirl and Stargirl are sisters. According to the comics, Kortni was always the adventurous one, and Kara just went along with it because she loved her sister so much. The government found out they had powers, made them heroes of the state, and sent them off to destroy German military camps.
When Ant Lucia was designing Bombshells Stargirl, he had a very creative idea: make her cosmic rod (the big staff thing that gives her her powers) into a control bar for a simple scooter, which would have allowed for all manner of cute, flirty poses of her kick-pushing her way down the street. The final product is... nowhere near that inventive. It was just a generic pin-up pose, in a fairly generic style of swimsuit. She's just sitting on the Cosmic Rod instead of a bomb or whatever. Meh.
There's something funny about Stargirl, a super patriotic
American character (don't forget she's a modern take on the Star-Spangled Kid) being a Russian hero instead. Heck, her costume was even originally red! In the comics. It was always blue outside of them. Which, if Lil Bombshells Series 3 had gotten repaints, would have been a perfect choice for her. This is a rather dull release, because she's just kind of standing there, not making any attempt to copy the statue's coquettish pose. The Cosmic Rod is gold, rather than the yellow of her hair, and her goggles have solid pink lenses rather than letting us see her eyes. Other than the victory roll in her hair, there's nothing especially "pin-up" about this mini. They should have stuck with the scooter.
