X-Men Marvel Legends: Henry Peter Gyrich review

Turns out you don't have to be super to get shuffled.

Ambitious government official Henry Gyrich acts as liaison to the Avengers, but his appetite for controlling superhumans turns into an obsession.

Henry Peter Gyrich originally appeared in Avengers #165, where he proceeded to break into Avengers mansion (through a hole Count Nefaria knocked in the wall, so it's not like it took any particular smarts or skill) to prove that the team didn't deserve its special US government priority status. He was generally a thorn in their side until he was transferred to Project Wideawake and began harrassing the X-Men, instead - a role he's much better known for, though he's often been moved around between various books. Basically, any time someone needs a bureaucrat to be an obstructionist pain in the ass, it's going to be Gyrich.

He's never had any kind of toy before, but thanks to X-Men '97 Morph coming with an alternate head, Gyrich can now join the likes of Shadow King and Lilandra in the ranks of Marvel Legends created by the power of head-swaps. The facial sculpt is based on the cartoon, but no one is likely to notice he's got a lower level of detail than anyone else. The head can fit on the suit body well enough: it's a tight fit, but a fit nonetheless. And since he's a slender guy, the sculpt of it is appropriate for him. He's never really had a "signature" color (though the '90s cartoon opted to keep him in green with a yellow shirt and tie), so you can basically use any version of the body you want. I picked the original Everett K. Ross, because the repaint made that one superfluous. The skintone is even a close match!
