As mentioned in today's review, the Final Faction<\/i> Synthoid<\/a> doesn't have any accessories, but he does have a dedicated Accessory Pack. Sold for the same low $1 price as all the other toys, the accessory pack has four new pieces. And because there's literally nothing about this line that's halfassed, the back of the package explains what they're called and what they can do.<\/p>\n

Battle Arms<\/b>
\nEnergy based, shoulder mounted cannons that increase the Synthoid long range attack capabilities. Auto targets biological enemis. High accuracy, high damage.<\/i><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Battle Arms are reminiscent of the weapons on War of the Worlds<\/i>' tripods, stretching up over the Synthoid's shoulders... or scalp... to aim forward. They're smooth, curving to a point at both the front and back with a bulge in the center and three horizontal vents on the top. The armored bits are styled to match the texture of the torso, while the supports that hold them up are more like the muscles of the limbs - they're not painted, but you could customize them if you like. The pieces plug into large holes in the Synthoid's back.<\/p>\n

Trap Arm<\/b>
\nGives Synthoid additional dexterity, increasing ability to grab and hold enemies.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Trap Arm is a right-handed copy of the left arm, so it's got a hand. Dextrous indeed! If you want a fully plain Synthoid, there ya go! Can they morph their arms into different weapons, or are they grown\/assembled in certain configurations? It's up to you and your imagination! I don't have any of the other Kharn yet, but the hands do look like they'd be able to hold the other guns.<\/p>\n

Needle Arm<\/b>
\nClose range combat attachment. Gives Synthoid the ability to inject nerve toxins into enemies, temporarily rendering them immobile.<\/i><\/p>\n

Since the replacement right arm was normal, the replacement left arm gets to be wild. The \"needle\" part of the Needle Arm is more like a gigantic spike, which raises the question of how it injects anything without stabbing all the way through it. There are serrated bumps along the top and bottom edges of the arm, while the sculpt in the middle looks like stringy flesh that's been pulled out and shredded. It's super unpleasant, and totally awesome!<\/p>\n

The Synthoid's arms just fit into the body with large round pegs, so they're easy to swap out. The way they're designed means left will always be left and right will always be right, but that's fine. Like we said, the accessory packs cost the same $1 as the figures, so technically a fully equipped Synthoid costs twice as much as any other Final Faction<\/i> release, but that's hardly a deal-breaker; buying those two sets will give you at least eight different options for how you want to display them, if not more. Hard to beat that value.<\/p>\n

Not content to stand still, Greenbriar International (they of Dollar Tree\/Family Dollar corporate parentage) have been releasing accessory packs for their various Final Faction<\/i> figures: the character will come out, and then a while later, the accessory pack will come out, increasing interest. What's really surprising is that in 2022, they released a second<\/b> pack for the Kharn Synthoid<\/a> over a year after its initial release.<\/p>\n

Azhorra<\/b>
\nA tentacled nightmare, Azhorra reaches out and entraps enemies before the Synthoid drags them to their doom.<\/i><\/p>\n

Gettin' weird right out the gate! Really leaning into the idea that Synthoids are grown, rather than built, this piece replaces the right arm with a mass of vine-like tentacles. There are three of them, molded together from a bright green plastic, and they're each different lenths. They're sculpted to curl around wildly, and a row of spiny growths pokes out along their length to make them look even better at gripping.<\/p>\n

Ctagoth<\/b>
\nThe plasmoid discharge of the Ctagoth cripples man and machine, leaving both torn asunder.<\/i><\/p>\n

This giant gun replaces the left arm, albeit not well: the pegs that slip into the shoulder cavity are for some reason larger on these arms than on either the originals or the previous accessory pack's<\/a>; it's not just that they're a tight fit, they're actually large enough to at least partially force the two halve pf the toy's body apart! What the heck? They may need to be shaved down a bit. This gun has the same scooped shape as the Synthoid's normal arms, but has a large, swirling, purple blaster in the center to match its chest. The edges of the piece are scalloped, like they could saw through something by striking it, and there's a visible difference between the outer shell of the weapon and the arm that's supporting it.<\/p>\n

Wythrym<\/b>
\nWith the dragon-like wings of Wythrym, the Synthoids are able to take their warfare airborne, bringing destruction from every angle.<\/i><\/p>\n

That's right, wings! Insectoid ones, rather than feathered or leathery. Being molded in the same green as the vine arm makes them look like giant leaves, though that's probably not the intention. The set includes little plugs to fit into the holes on the Synthoid's back, to make the wings look more seamless. Unfortunately, the pegs on those are way longer than they should be, so the pieces stick out from the figure instead of sitting snugly against the back as you might think they should. The same was true of the Rumbler's<\/a> Scorpion Whip<\/a>, so perhaps these can be cut down as well.<\/p>\n

The Evolution Accessory Pack is a lot wilder and more varied than the original Synthoid Accessory Pack, but that doesn't mean it's better. The whip-arm is fun, even if it breaks the established colorscheme, and the gun is cool, but the very way they're made is kind of incompatible with the toy they're meant to be supporting. It's nothing for collectors to shave the peg down so it fits into the shoulder better, but is a kid going to be happy with this? We're glad Final Faction<\/i> is still releasing DLC packs for its earliest figures and are all in favor of that continuing, but hopefully the next one will be better engineered.<\/p>\n
