This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of blog posts memorializing cancelled toys. Our figure today is Galoob's Dinosaucers<\/i> Bronto Thunder.<\/p>\n

Like comicbooks in the '90s, the '80s were a boom time for cartoons, with nearly anything being greenlit. In 1987, DiC Entertainment and Coca-Cola partnered to create Dinosaucers<\/i>, a show about alien dinosaurs from the planet Reptilon who come to Earth for reasons. Toys were planned, including the heroic Dinosaucers' muscle, Bronto Thunder.<\/p>\n

Each of the figures would have come with a lenticular card showing the character and their dinosaur equivalent.<\/p>\n

The cartoon got poor ratings, with some stations opting to pull it from rotation rather than showing reruns of its 65 episodes. Galoob showed prototype figures at Toy Fair 1988, but by then the show was on its way to cancelled. Galoob only got one set of the figures as far as the packaging mock-up stage; the packaging for all eight of them used the Bronto art and copy.<\/p>\n

Although the toys never came out in the US, Brazilian company Glasslite bought the molds from Galoob and released a few in limited numbers, including Bronto.<\/p>\n
