LOFLMBO - Laying On The Floor Laughing My Body Off. Start using it in all your IM conversation!
The point of this Figuretoon was just to tell a little story using nothing more than two inanimate accessories. Like Scott McCloud points out in Understanding Comics, the human brain is set up in such a way that it's incapable of not seeing a human face when it's represented in simple, cartoony forms. The reason you see this:
:)
...as a smiling face rather than a colon and a parenthesis is called "pareidolia": ascribing of meaning to vague and random stimuli. And sure enough, when we took a picture of the "mask-up" helmet for the Mark IV Iron Man, it looked like it was laughing.
In our continuing effort to turn into Tim B^Uckley's Ctrl+Alt+Del by over-explaining every minor joke, the title is a reference to the chat shorthand ROFLMAO, short for "rolling on the floor laughing my ass off," or finding something very funny. It's the third stage of humor, after LOL (laughing out loud) and ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing).
In a metatextual sense, this could be ued to sum up pretty much all of our other Figuretoons. When we post one you don't find funny, feel free to come back to this one as a response.
