So I guess she's meant to hang out with 2024's Duros?
Celebrate the season with specially designed Star Wars figures from The Black Series.
Wow, really? You don't say! That's SO informative! There are no store-exclusives in this year's "Halloween Edition" releases - all three figures are avilable everywhere. I initially found this figure all by herself at Walmart, and was surprised enough to get her right away at full price. But a few weeks later she turned up from an eBay seller called "VIP Outlet" - someone said they're the Walmart equivalent of Target's "Bullseye Deals," but apparently that's incorrect? Whatever the case may be, they had the figure for $20 and free shipping, so I ordered her from them then returned the Walmart one. Eight bucks is eight bucks!
Pleasantly (for me), this figure reuses a mold I never got! In 2025,
Hasbro released a Black Series Shaak Ti (same time as Luminara and Barriss), but I never found her at a normal price. The bio on that figure's packaging told us that A wise and patient Jedi Master, the Togruta Shaak Ti fought at the Battle of Geonosis and supervised the training of clone cadets on Kamino. I'd have been very pleased to get that figure, but since I couldn't, this one is entirely new to me!
Just like Cad Bane was just a Duros Bounty Hunter and Asajj Ventress was just a Dathomir Witch, Shaak is just a Togruta. Her Halloween inspiration is the Bride of Frankenstein, so the majority of her sculpt is hidden beneath a simple white shift. The Shaak Ti figure also wore softgoods robes, but it at least opened in the front so you could see her belt, scarf, and skirt - this is solid from neck to heel. If you do look up under it, you'll see the gap left between the pelvis and abdomen where that cloth skirt and plastic belt were meant to sit. So maybe being entirely covered is a good thing.
The dress is white, while the entire body beneath it is a creamy beige color, presumably meant to represent Bride's body being entirely wrapped in bandages. Her skin, visible on her hands and face, is a minty green, while the two light patches around Shaak Ti's eyes are two different shades and have thin black lines painted around them - an effort to make her look like she's stitched together from multiple parts. Her head dealie (two montrals pointing up, three lekku hanging down) gets the same paint masks as the real figure, but the colors have been reversed: instead of white with black stripes, it's black with white stripes. That's just enough of a change to make it look different even at a glance, and serves as a nod to The Bride's trademark skunk stripes.
The lekku are molded from PVC, so they won't keep her head from moving, but they're still thick and heavy enough that she can only do so much. The head is a barbell and the neck is on a balljoint, but she can still barely look around at all. Other than that, she moves at the shoulders,
elbows, wrists, waist, hips, thighs, knees, shins, and ankles, the way a good Black Seres figure should. The mold is old enough taht she has double-hinged knees and swivel boots, rather than simply single swivel/hinge knees, and the dress being cloth means you can actually use them to their fullest potential.
This figure isn't technically Shaak Ti, so it wouldn't make sense for her to come with a lightsaber. Instead, she's got the electrostaff Dark Trooper Armor Moff Gideon came with, molded in gold and with a translucent yellow energy effect that can fit over the tip. Presumably this was chosen because "Frankenstein = electricity" and they didn't want to just reuse the same one from last time.
All the Holiday Edition Black Series figures, Halloween and nobody- said-the-word-"Christmas" alike [don't forget Valentine's Day! --ed.], include a small pack-in friend for the main character to pal around with. On the wintery ones, they're always penguins or snowmen or elves or whatever other easily recognizable icon you want, but on the Halloween Edition ones, they keep being just some random spooky color.
For instance, the Togruta is paired with a porg. Of course she is,
nearly a dozen of these figures have porgs. They're small and simple and easy to repaint. This is the "standing" mold, the one with the balljointed wings, and it's just done in a sickly neon green, with black apps for its eyes and mouth. Apparently the idea is that it's supposed to look "undead," like a little zombie porg? Zombies don't really have anything to do with the Bride of Frankenstein, but it certainly succeeds in looking vaguely seasonal.
Between this figure and the Tusken Raider, 2026's Halloween Edition figures have been very plain. It's not that either of them are uncreative, but "clear figure with a painted hat" and "figure entirely covered by featureless white smock" just don't compare to the kind ofideas they came up with in previous years. There's still one more to go from this year, though; hope it's better.
