Big boy's been through some changes.
Colossus is a towering, virtuous mutant
known for his organic steel body which grants him immense strength and durability
In the original X-Men movies, Colossus was... well, not "little," but at least "human-sized." The Deadpool movies take place in the post-Days of Future Past continuity, so clearly something Wolverine did in the past changed Piotr's trajectory. Maybe that big showdown at the White House convinced Russia that having its own super-beings would be worth it, so the Rasputin family was prevented from moving to America (also explaining why this Colossus has a much thicker accent), and Colossus was experimented on/enhanced in some way, pushing his powers further. You know, like how Canada's Weapon X program turned Liev Schreiber into Tyler Mane.
Though this figure was released alongside Deadpool 3, it could really be from any of the series: Colossus appeared in them all, and his design never changed in any meaningful way. This could be the Colossus
who fought Angel Dust, the Colossus who fought Juggernaut, or the Colossus who fought for a slice of cake at Wade's birthday party. Okay, not that last one: despite only being in that one scene, DP3 gave Colossus new bracers his costume had never had before, and this toy lacks; Hasbro could have included them as removable pieces, but maybe they didn't know in time. His costume comprises boots, sturdy cargo pants, and a vest with the vaguest of X logos on the chest. The original movie Colossus had lines in his metal that looked like muscle tissue, but Deadpool gave him comics-accurate horizontal bands, which this toy duplicates well.
The figure includes two heads, one frowning in disapproval
at Wade's antics, the other actually angry. Dennis Chan sculpted this figure, and according to him, the angry head was originally "more beat-up looking," but you can see why they'd go with this version, instead. Colossus is never seen outside of his armored form in these movies, even when eating his Grape-Nuts for breakfast, so it seems he's stuck this way; and organic steel probably shouldn't look "batle damaged" in any way other than scuffs on its surface.
Colossus' costume sort of bridges the gap
between the original movies' black leather and Deadpool's MCU-style, in that it's mostly black, with colored piping creating outlines, but it also has two big red panels on the chest and another across the back of the shoulders. That's just the sleeveless shirt, though, because the pants could easily be off-the-rack, if he weren't so huge.
Rather than bringing back Daniel Cudmore, who probably would have jumped at the chance to play a more comic-accurate version than he got to previously, Colossus was mocapped on set by a 6'9" actor who was wearing huge lifts in his shoes to make him even larger. The toy is more than 7¾" tall, really putting the old Hasbro figure to shame. He has a balljointed head, hinged neck, balljoint/hinge shoulders with a ring to hide the post, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel/hinge wrists, a hinged chest, swivel waist, balljoint hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel boots, and swivel/hinge ankles. Since he's large and heavy, all those joints need to be strong to hold him up, and they definitely are so far.
The figure includes fists and open hands, and
a single accessory, a small Xavier institute notebook. That pegs this as a Deadpool 2 toy, because that was the only time he used such a thing - he read from it while explaing the ground rules to Wade. Rule 1: no killing. Anyone. Ever. No matter how bad. Rule 2: label everything in the refrigerator. Those are written on the inside, and the cover has the Xavier school logo and the slogan "Mutatis Mutandis." The book can be held decently in either of the open hands.
Colossus is a large figure, sold in an oversized box but still has to be contorted to fit inside it. No real stores carried it, just GameStop, but I managed to find it at a normal price on Walmart's website when I needed something to reach the free shipping threshold on Cosmos and Wheeljack. The toy's nice, but it would have been nicer if you could buy him in person for the normal price.
