Quickly! Someone teleport this guy to the kingdom of the blind!
Cyclops helps prisoners escape from Apocalypse's
prison camps in an attempt to be a force for good in a harsh dystopian future.
For all that changed in the "Age of Apocalypse," Cyclops was still Cyclops: he was the pet interest of Mr. Sinister, almost pathologically desperate for approval from a father figure, and obliviously overshadowed his brother. But more than that, he remained a good person, even when others were willing to go dark at a moment's notice: like the bio says, he defied everything he knew to save humans, because he understood inherently that the difference between right and wrong is using any strength you have to assist and protect those who have less. In fact, he probably would have even defected to Magneto's side, if not for Weapon X showing up in the middle of Cyclops helping Jean Grey escape from The Pens. The two got in a fight that crippled them both, and retreated to their respective sides to heal up.
Because AoA came out in the mid-90s, Scott's redesign gave him long hair. Radical, dude! He looks like the rhythm guitarist
from some forgotten band that's best remembered for one of its former members being a tour replacement for a bigger band after their famous member overdosed, but then they never released another hit album after and faded into obscurity until a modern show or movie set in the era needed a "retro" soundtrack, and the director picked that band's album for obscure cred. Not the band Cyclops was in, the band Cyclops' ex-bandmate was in after they'd already made it big but before they faded away. Also he wears a silly little microphone headset built into his visor.
You already know what body Cyclops uses, because this is Hasbro and this is Cyclops. All the Cyclopes use the same body.
For some reason (to save money), they haven't given him any boots - it's just smooth legs all the way down. Now, the comics were inconsistent on whether his boots were yellow or black, but they were at least consistent on him wearing boots. He also always wore a ridiculous harness, because that is what the Cyclops do. There's a strap that runs diagonally across his chest, joining his utility belt to the single pad he wears on his left shoulder. Honestly, the design is a little bit gladiatorial. Both forearms get cracked bracers, and there's more armor running up his left arm to the shoulder, necessitating new molds for the bicep and shoulder. And new hands fpr the plates of armor on the backs of his gloves, as well.
His bodysuit is a bright blue, and the armor is golden. The gold is fine - the comics usually showed it as yellow, but the
understanding is that it's "really" gold, like Iron Man's armor - but the blue should really be a much darker shade, a navy blue dark enough to appease the people who think X-Men uniforms were always black and yellow. That would also help the gold stand out more.
There are no changes to the articulation, though not everything moves as well as it could. The harness is a separate piece, which means the chest hinge can only move under it, not with it. The Side Stage Lollapalooza hair means the head doesn't want to turn very far or tilt up or down. And the big pads on the left arm mean the elbow has trouble bending to 90°, even with two hinges.
AoA Cyclops comes with the left leg of AoA Colossus, this AoA series' AoA Build-AoA-Figure.
ToyBiz actually made this version of Cyclops in 1996. They did a single Age of Apocalypse series not long after the comics came out, and he made the cut. They even remembered to give him boots! This version is better, obviously, even with a few flaws.
