Well, there it is. If that's not everything, then it's darn close. There were 111 days in 2012 where I bought something, and the majority of those trips involved multiple purchases at multiple stores - that works out to be a buy every three days or so. The may explain why I'm way over budget and spent more this year than last year. A big chunk of that overage can be attributed to significant one-time purchases: though I still don't include my SDCC purchases on this list, I did include my two big GI Joe Collectors' Club buys, which total about $800 together. A few notes: a five-figure box set counts as one purchase, but as five figures. Build-A-Figures are not counted in the totals, even if I buy all the pieces to assemble them. Things that I got in trades aren't included on the list. I get a 15% discount from my regular comicshop, which is included. Any coupons or sales have been subtracted before the items go on the list. There are a few things I wish I hadn't purchased, and others I wish I'd waited on until they hit clearance, but 2012 brought a lot of good stuff. And unlike my anecdotal recollection led me to believe, discount stores actually contributed a lot to my collection: put them all together, and I bought more from them than from Amazon. And that's why we trust facts and figures instead of our own memories. Notice that the ratio of figures to purchases is better than 1.75-to-1: multipacks mean you get the most toys for your money! My resolution for 2013 is to show a marked improvement over this year.
