"The tin-foil-hat-level theory about jacking up the price in response to demand seems plausible (although surely Hasbro could have figured out the demand before the teases too?). Also maybe plausible that they increased the price due to, say, the increased cost of oil or something. (But then why not a price increase across the board? Or maybe that will come (again) in the near future.)"

Poor Howard the Duck - even though Disney owns Marvel, they'll still probably never let him back into his own comic. Or into another movie. Why not cut the kid a break, Donald!
This picture was originally linked in the Silver Surfer review, but since we were updating the photos in that, we opted to move it over here, as its own Figuretoon. Howard would have said "hairless apes" instead of "overlords" - that's what he calls humans - bbut it didn't fit the length of the line as nicely.
