Decimator

Imagine this clomping at you in a fight. A defensive turret that is as strong as a rhino, Decimator is a living weapon. Ruthless in pursuit of opponents, Decimator delivers a deadly blow with it's [sic] spore strike. Yes, bit more on the "weapon" than the "living" part of that "living weapon" descriptor though, isn't it? The Crawlers were little metal crabs and the Huntra had a face, but the Decimator appears to be something completely constructed. Decimator is, in simplest terms, a tripod with a gun on the "front" and another on top. It looks like an evolutionary offshoot of the Rumbler, with that big, puckered shape right in the center of its round body, and all three of its legs look like the Synthoid's elbows. As long as Final Faction keeps displaying this level of design cohesion, we're going to keep praising it. Even when it looks gross. A weird choice was made with the articulation. All three legs fit into the body via large, round sockets, like a balljoint. So you'd expect that's how they'd move, right? No, a small nub on both the top and bottom of the ball fit into little recesses inside the socket, effectively locking them into place and turning them into simple swivels. The legs seem to fit fairly well, so it may be worth the $1.25 to buy another one of these and find out if trimming the bumps off really does anothing bad to the figure, or just makes it better. The reason this limitation is so annoying? The way the gun on top of the Decimator is sculpted, it's pointing down. Presumably this is the "spore strike" mentioned in the bio, so maybe it wants to shoot at the ground? But you'd think getting hit in the face would be just as deadly. If the legs were true balljoints, you could adjust the front two so it could aim its gun higher, rather than just swiveling. While the missile it fires is the same bright green as Huntra's, it's a different shape, so you don't need to worry about confusing them. Of the three Kharn drones, the Decimator has the simplest paint: no red eyes, no brass carapace, just dark purple limbs, lighter purple blaster ports, and a blue-grey body. No wasted effort. But hey, the neon missile really stands out against all that very well! The Decimator is the least interesting of these three releases, but its chunky bulk makes up for that. And like the others, it's a great little crowd-filler for any number of different lines. The trio of battlefield drones is a lot of fun and will really spice up your displays. -- 09/01/23
