Looks like Ein isn't the only beloved anime dog anymore.
The Forger family's guard dog. He was originally an experimental subject for military research, and has the ability to predict
the future. While being used as a bomb dog by terrorists, he meets Anya and she welcomes him into her family.
After receiving her first academic accolade, Anya asked for a pet dog as a reward. The family attended an adoption event, but it was the big white dog passing by outside that captured the girl's attention: mainly because she could read his mind, and knew he had the power to see the future. Then it was just a question of ditching her mama and rescuing him from the terrorist cell who currently owned him.
Like Anya herself, Bond got his powers via experiments carried out by the Ostanian government - since she was "Subject 007" and he was "Subject 8," it was probably not the same experimental program. Probably. Otherwise the numbers would be formatted the same way. "Project Apple" aimed to create highly intelligent animals for military use; Bond developing unholy Satan powers was an unintended side effect, and he seems to be the only one.
Bond appears to be a Great Pyrenees, which means he has a large body with thick fur. The sculpt is comprehensive, covering his entire body with smooth, subtle waves to depict his fur. He has a large black
nose, and beady dot eyes. Anya named him Bond because his black paws reminded her of the gloves Bondman wears - the fact it also serves as a reference to Britain's top secret agent is more a joke for us the audience than anything that would be recognizable in-universe. The bow tie is the same deal: it's just something Anya picked for him because she liked it.
SH Figuarts animal articulation is not as high as SH Figuarts human articulation, but it's still decent. Bond has a balljointed tail, barbell hips and barbell shoulders, swivel/hinge/swivel
front paws, a barbell head, and a hinged jaw. We've seen better on GI Joe Classified canines, but it's enough. Plus, we get alternate rear legs so Bond can sit down. You don't have to worry about popping the balljoints out to swap the legs; they attach via a very large, specially-shaped plug that slides perfectly into place. Since there's no chest joint to adjust the pose of the torso, it's a little tough to get all four paws on the ground properly when he's sitting, and the tail definitely isn't sculpted to accommodate the pose naturally.
Bond comes with a pretty impressive accessory: Anya! You can buy her, by herself, in her casual home clothes, but this one is molded
to be sitting down - something the length of her dress would normally prevent. When it's time for an action scene, Anya's small enough that she can ride on Bond's back, so that's what this toy is showing. She still has all the same articulation as the school uniform version, though the dress is definitely not designed to accommodate her standing straight up. There's a selection of alternate hands, though sadly, no alternate faces: just a big joyful smile. The head construction means you can trade any of your other Anya faces in, though. Gotta love that Figuarts style!
Just in case the weight of a miniscule girlchild would be too much for this toy's joints, the set includes a two-piece clear stand
that fits under Bond's chest to hold him up. You can also use it for running poses, where all his feet wouldn't be on the ground.
After both "Spy" and "Family" versions of Loid, Yor, and Anya, Bond was the only Forger we were still missing; I figured I'd just need to settle for some statue piece that was close enough to the right size, so I was very pleased when this two-pack was announced. I'd have gladly traded the extra hands for another face or two, or some sort of Bond-specific accessories, but I'm still really glad this one was made before I tracked down something else.
