The Amazing Digital Circus: All-Stars Abstracted Kaufmo review

Mini-Figure Mini-Reviews

What's that you say? The bright, colorful world of the Digital Circus actually conceals a dark, scary underbelly? I am shocked - SHOCKED! Well, not that shocked. While there's no death in the digital world, the circus members are in danger of abstracting: when they can't take the world anymore, their minds break down and their bodies soon follow suit. And since all these "All-Stars" figures are based on the pilot episode, we can surmise that this is not just any Abstraction, it's everybody's favorite jokester, Kaufmo, the clown who probably would have been fine if he'd held o0ut for just one more day and had the chance to meet Pomni.

Abstracting is a metaphor for suicide or mental health or whatever you want it to be, because that's how metaphors work. Is Ethan Frome's pickle dish really a metaphor for Mattie's virginity? No! But it can be, if your arguments are salient enough and supported by the text. So it's possible Abstractions are just big scary monsters, nothing more! Whatever a character looked like before, they all look the same once they've abstracted: a jagged, glitching black mass of spikes with four stumpy legs, a long neck, and dozens of eyes everywhere. A solid figure can't duplicate the hectic nature of the design, but it's molded from a semi-translucent black plastic with glitter, and gets pink, blue, and yellow paint for the various eyes. Since everyone looks the same after abstraction, this could easily be Kaufmo, or Scratch, or Queenie, or... anyone else you might want it to be. You might need a whole bunch of them.
