Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 60th Anniversary Mystery Minis - Santa Claus exclusive review

Funko Friday

All these Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer not-so-mystery Minis have a sticker on the front of the box declaring them Five Below exclusives, but that's really a half-truth at best: although these were released in 2024, the molds were first available in 2023; the thing that makes these "new" exclusives is the 60th Anniversary branding on the packaging - a minor change, to be sure, but a change nonetheless. At least until you throw the box away.

This is Santa as seen at the end of the special - at the beginning, he was so worried about getting everything ready for Christmas Santa's got a brand new bag!that he was skinny, so Mrs. Claus had to turn him back into the Santa children knew and loved. Or maybe it was some sort of psychosexual forced feeding thing, who's to say? Although Santa appeared in a bunch of the Rankin/Bass specials (even two of the Easter ones!), Rudolph was the only time his design included beady black eyes like this. I guess they thought realer eyes made him look friendlier? The mini is waving and carrying his sack of toys over his shoulder, and his mouth is open beneath his big mustache, presumably to call someone a ho. This is just a nice, standard Santa, perfect for a seasonal Giftsmas display.

Now if only it had a removable head that could double as a tree topper!
