Why I'm not excited about Hasbro's SDCC sale

Tomorrow at some indeterminate time, Hasbro's Comic-Con exclusives will go up for sale on their site. And honestly, it's a little hard to care.

Let's look at some of the more interesting offerings:

Bumblebee's not bad, but the "gold" paint just looks tacky. Maybe if they'd stuck with plain yellow, but did increased apps - realistic apps on every little light and fixture, etc. - then he'd have been worth it. The Japan-exclusive G1 cassette bots are tempting, but nah, I can wait for the car until the movie toys come out.

All right, a cool new Marvel Comics character and her badass droid companions! This will be a must-hav... oh wait, they're 3¾" figures, not Black Series. Never mind.

Hey, it's the same Red Skull that will sooon be available at retail, but with fewer accessories and a light-up box! Totally worth the big money!

I was absolutely down for the Throne of the Primes, until I realized it only comes with four Prime Masters, not the full set. Oh yeah, those will go real well with the three Hasbro has actually managed to get into stores.

Anyway, I guess it's just the ML Defenders set for me, then. Hey, at least I'm saving some money this year...
