So, in today's review of the Marvel Universe "Giant Battles" Savage Frost Giant and Loki set, I told you that ToyBiz planned to make a Conan-based Frost Giant in Legendary Comicbook Heroes Series 3. Here are some pictures:
I also said that none of the pieces from that figure went into making Hasbro's, but now I'm not so sure. The toes look similar, so it's possible that those old feet were given new wraps to match Thor's legs...
What a brute! That Marvel Toys BAF Frost Giant is as hideous as Aphrodite IX standing next to him is beautiful. Seeing canceled wave 3 pics always bums me out. Mattel can mattel fans upwards of 20 waves of DCUC yet Toybiz/Marvel Toys tanks after LCBH wave 2? WTF!? Anyway I couldn't believe how awesome the paint wash was on the new Hasbro Frost Giant. I was giddy when I shelled out $25 for that big bad boy.
I know this is an old post. But is there any follow up, IE who owns the mold to this figure
Depends, do you mean "who OWNS it" or "who HAS it?" Since the figure was developed for Marvel Toys, and Marvel Toys was part (obviously) of Marvel, then it, like all the rest of Marvel's property, now belongs to Disney.
However, it's entirely possible that the physical prototype is in the hands of whoever sculpted it (I'm guessing Dave Cortes, just based on the style?), if Marvel gave it back to them after having it on display...
