In today's review of the Transformers 2 Mindwipe figure, I mentioned that the Generation 1 version of the character turned into a bat, while this modern version was a stealth bomber. However, that's not to say that you can't turn him into a bat.
Someone on the TFW2005 boards designed a bat mode using the new toy:
Tell us that doesn't look like a bat! He's straight out of the package, no cutting or other mods required. It's just a question of posing him. Yes, he's free-standing in that picture - not leaning on anything but his own "feet." And look, he can even fold his wings and hang upside down, too:
