The OAFEnet Email Update: it's what's for dinner.
- Ooh, clear plastic, how stylish!
- Who doesn't love that old trope of the blind martial arts master?
- Marvel Monday contains fun biology and history lessons!
- We could have had a Transformers Tuesday this week, but since it was the Fourth of July, we did something patriotic instead.
- Word to your moms, I came to drop bombs.
Not a lot on the blog, but it's all quality.
Hi guys, still love the site and how you make the reviews informative about not just the toy, but pop culture or life in general. With that in mind, I wanted to point out something from yo's recent Harley Quinn review. As "Bombshells" takes place during WWII, one of Harley's hands is not flashing the "peace sign;" rather, this is the "victory sign" (hence the V shape). It was always the victory sign until the American counterculture adopted it as a peace symbol during the Vietnam War, some 20 years later. Excelsior!
True, but that doesn't make it NOT a peace sign - heck, there's nothing at all saying you can't turn her hand around to show the back and have her flipping someone off. She is British, after all. Maybe she's doing the "I'm watching you" back and forth gesture, or dancing the Batusi. Given her mental state and her ability to make references to modern pop culture, her V sign could be almost anything...
