This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of blog posts memorializing cancelled toys. Tomorrow is Father's Day, so today's subject are Diamond Select Toys' Father's Day Minimates.
This set was first seen at last year's Toy Fair. Since there have been two Father's Days since then, and still no further word on the toys, it seems safe to consider it cancelled.
Though the placard only refers to it as a single box set, the $9.99 pricepoint seems low for something that would have included four adults, four children, lots of newly designed accessories, and (seemingly) alternate torsos. It also seems high for a two-pack; perhaps two sets, with a two fathers and two kids apiece? In any case, it's a shame, because getting child-sized Minimates would have been neat!
