Godzilla gone wild

Fun, isn't it? Here's the cool thing: every shot of Godzilla in that thing is Bandai's new S.H. MonsterArts action figure (same goes for the special guest at the end).

Here's what Crunchyroll has to say about it:

Godzilla has been missing from Japan since the release of the 2004 theatrical film Godzilla Final Wars. But now, the Big G is roaring back to life in a series of new promotional videos for Bandai’s new S.H. MonsterArts action figures. Instead of the old man-in-a-suit special effects techniques of old, the new Godzilla S.H. MonsterArts figure (based on the 1994 design from Godzilla vs. Mecha Godzilla) itself takes center stage to emerge from the deep and menace Tokyo.

The short film ends on a white knuckle cliffhanger involving an old foe. Bandai plans on continuing the mini-saga by releasing a new chapter on the first of every month, leading to the world-wide release of the Godzilla S.H. MonsterArts figure in November.

The special effects for the spot have been supervised by Koichi Kawakita, SFX director of the Godzilla series from 1989 to 1995.

So keep an eye out for more Big G goodness in the months to come!
