Okay, wow! At the rate we've been going with the Elf Advent Calendar, I didn't think we'd be getting Buddy himself until the very end, but here he is on Day 18! Elf was Will Ferrel's big breakout hit, proving he'd have a career path post-SNL. The North Pole parts of the story were based directly on the Rankin-Bass Christmas specials, which is why the elves dressed exactly like the ones seen in Rudolph and similar holiday specials. The Ferrel caricature is pretty good, for this style, though a lot of the work is done by his curly hair.
