Slightly LESS haunted, now

It seems the Four Horsemen were offering a new edition of their Figura Obscura Ghost of Jacob Marley, done in "Haunted Blue" glow-in-the-dark paint. The keyword there being "were," because they've given this update:

Hunted Blue Ghost of Jacob Marley

The new “Haunted Blue” Ghost of Jacob Marley is ready to hit collections as part of the 2024 Retailer Appreciation wave, which has a street date of next Friday – 11/29. Unfortunately, as we were digging into this latest wave, we noticed something was missing from Jacob – his glow effect. If you ordered this figure from one of our Approved Retailer partners, here is what you need to know:

First off, the new blue Ghost of Jacob Marley figure looks great. The colors are super vibrant, and since he is inside a sealed package, you would never even know that he is missing his glow until you take him out and turn off the lights.

Getting the glow to work on this figure, while maintaining the rich colors of the paint master, was a challenge, and there was ultimately a miscommunication with some feedback we provided, causing the factory to run the figures minus the glow. We didn’t realize this until we had the production figures in hand.

So what is the plan? Retailers will be contacting all customers who purchased these items to see if they still want them. If you DO still want this figure, please understand that you are buying an awesome looking figure, but it does not glow in the dark as originally intended. If you do want your Haunted Blue Marley, nothing will change and your retailer will fill your order as planned.

If you do NOT want the figure, the retailer will refund that purchase for you. Note that this needs to be communicated BEFORE these items ship, since opened, loose figures cannot be returned for a refund. If you do not want this item, please be sure to tell your retailer.

One thing to be aware of is that there will NOT be another version of Marley that glows. This is it. If you decide to pass on Haunted Blue Marley, there will not a glowing version that will be offered in the future.

As always, we strive to create the best products possible, but when issues like this do arise, we are committed to communicating clearly and doing what we need to do to make it right with our customers and our retailers.

Thank you for your support of 4H. Even though he doesn’t glow, Blue Marley does look amazing, and we hope you will still add him to your collection!

No more glow-in-the-dark, just paint?

Dang. "He blue."

I don't get it. I don't have my Jacob Marley handy (guess I could just look at the review), but wasn't the figure already blue? What's the point of this variant without the glowing?

It's a much more saturated blue, without the translucent parts, and the gray bits are a darker blue. It's also just a chance for people who missed the original release to get it, without being a straight up re-release so the folks who preordered the original can feel special. And it's being sold by retailers besides the Horsemen's own site so it's a bit easier to get.
They're doing it with a bunch of Figura Obscura figures, though most of them are much more clearly different. Like Sun Wukong has gold fur and different armor. I'm getting that one since I didn't have money in time the first go 'round
