By Series 4 of the Transformers BotBots stopped giving us charts depicting the mall where the BotBots live, so while we know this little one is a member of the Fresh Squeezes, we've got no idea where, precisely, she might live. Let's pretend there's a big bookstore that has fruit for sale in its coffee shop nook.
You know the Bible never specifies that the fruit of the forbidden tree 
was an apple, right? As late as the 1600s, "apple" was used as a generic term for any fruit, not specifically the Malus domestica. Which is funny, since the Latin name, mālum, comes from the Greek mâlon, itself a variant of mêlon - and the Greeks used "melon" as a generic term for all foreign fruits! It wouldn't help that Latin "apple" (mālum) and Latin "evil" (mălum) were both often written without their diacritics, so they'd both appear as malum, making it an easy pun. This red apple has a raggedy hole in its side, though no extra paint to explain it. The stem and the worm peeking out near the bottom are green
BotBots are intended to be simple to convert, but this is a whole new level: split the two halves of the apple. You're done.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, and an apple bot named Aday keeps EVERYONE away! Aday has super sharp teeth that she uses for her menacing snarling, scowling, and growling. While her scary chompers keep the other bots 
at a safe distance, no bot's actually seen her bite anyone. This apple bot's secret: her snarl is worse than her snap.
Judged solely as a robot, Aday is just as disappointing as Sour Wing was: the body looks more like a dinosaur than a dragon, and the "wings" grow from the head, not the body. But the paint makes a real difference! The interior of the shell is pale yellow, like the actual inside of an apple. That makes for a terrific contrast with the bright red body, while the use of green for the eyes and belly keeps things from getting boring.
Aday is part of Series 4, available in a Science Alliance 5-pack, or a Wilderness Troop 8-pack. The mold was used again in Series 5 to make Sweet Fang.
As a Sauron fan, Sour Wing appeals to me. Bio-organic Transformers are a rarity too.
I think there's a neat idea there - the art, for instance, makes the bit on the apple more directly related to the Bot's mouth - but the execution is WAY lacking. It's like she got approved too early, when she really needed a few more rounds of creative reworking...
The name made me expect she'd be a chicken wing from the food court.
You can easily remove the apple-wings, and then get a cute little Gon-esque dinosaur.
Which is fine and all, but that doesn't make it a good Transformer. In fact, they should have skipped the apple idea entirely and just made her a discarded clam. That way she could be the ULTIMATE shellformer...
Don't they have a clam by now? I mean, there's the tuna transformer...
I have a soft spot for the obviously non-mechanical BotBots, though, like this one or the venus flytrap.
For my money, my least favorite are ones like the ruler bots (they don't resemble the object, you just stand them up to transform them), or something like the Maraca guy, who can't stand on his own. But the best is Steve From Accounting.
Huh, weird. USA malls do not have general stores in them? Here, every one has one usually in the basement - a SPAR or Hofer/Aldi, etc. So fruit and foodstuff is a common thing in malls.
I do wish Sour Wing had a bigger body inside that apple shell, with moving limbs. She looks cute -and so do the repaints - but not very articulated and hard to stand.
