I seem to recognize your face - Sean Connery

This is the latest in a series (of indefinite length and regularity) of pieces pointing out odd action figures of unlikely actors. People known more as character actors than action stars, and thus unlikely candidates for plastic representation.

Our honoree this time is Sean Connery, one of the top ten James Bond actors of all time.

Connery first played Bond 60 years ago, but since he's just a guy in a tux, Bond toylines have long favored cars over characters, with any appearance of the man himself limited mostly to high-end dolls. And while he did get a toy for voicing Draco in Dragonheart, that hardly counts as "him." However, in 1991 he cameoed as King Richard in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Prince of Thieves had a toyline.

King Richard wasn't included in Series 1, but here, as seen in the 1992 Toy Fair catalog, Kenner planned to include him in Series 2:

KING RICHARD FIGURE
KING RICHARD is the proud ruler of England, and a staunch ally of ROBIN HOOD in his battles with the evil SHERIFF OF NOTTINGHAM!

Unfortunately, the hodgepodge of reused existing molds that were used to quickly assemble the first series failed to ignite kids' imaginations, so future toys were never released.

Finding Forrester made him one of the internet's first memes. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen made him quit acting. And while no one's made him an affordable action figure, Kenner at least tried.
