Week 4 of our look at the remaining unreleased Earthworm Jim toys. Our subject today is Clutch.
Clutch is technically not an Earthworm Jim character. He was created by Playmates specifically for the toyline - he never appeared in the show or any of the games. If he'd been approved, maybe he would have made an animated appearance? Either way, since he was never introduced, he doesn't exist in the brand.
Clutch is a snail - if the head didn't make it clear enough, you can just make out his large shell hanging off his back. Since he's wearing shorts and seems to have jet boosters on his feet, do you think Playmates was pitching him as a speedster?
Clutch was designed for Series 1, but later moved back to Series 2 as they tried to get him approved. Then Series 2 was cancelled, and so that was the end of him.
