Reindeer Rudy rough

Yesterday, we reviewed McFarlane Toys' Twisted Christmas Reindeer Rudy. The figure had a distinct look, with its wide, gaping jaw, and yo wondered whether a normal head would have looked better.

Well, thanks to sculptor Alex Heinke, who did the first rough-out of the character, we can get an idea of what might have been:

The original was much more normal, and seems to take some influence from the possessed deer head of Evil Dead 2. I'm personally left to wonder if that's why they decided to change it: to avoid any potentially thorny legal issues, considering the notoriously complex legal issues that tend to surround that film when it comes to toys.
