Recently, friend of the site googum went digging through his musty garage well-maintained archives and pulled out this old Twisted ToyFare Theatre strip, because why should we realistically have to wait 95 years for an abandoned copyright to expire? If the company that owns it isn't interested in using it or doesn't exist anymore, give it to the public immediately.
Anyway, writer Jon Gutierrez piped up to report that he still had the storyboards for the issue, and shared those as well. So here, enjoy this comparison of the final product and the earliest stages:
Ah yes, the Spider-Man musical. Not sure if that feels like it should be too for a ToyFare reference, or 50 years ago.
"Andrew Lloyd Web-Head" is just a good joke, period.
Jon revealed that TTT "scripts" were a melange of storyboards like this, full scripts sometimes, and even "Marvel method" outlines. No shock there.
Also, the "if you're here for the girl, take her" gag was cut simply so they could have more space for Green Goblin/Bono ("Green Boblino"?) to sing.
Is that Chris Giarrusso art for the thumbnails?
If you don't hear from me, please check the garage and make sure nothing fell on me...
I was kind of down on this one when I first posted it, but only because I was really looking for the Muppet show one from Toyfare #77, which features a joke that would almost certainly get Fozzie cancelled.
If you do get stuck, maintain your sanity by dribbling a nearby basketball with your one free hand. Make a game of it: see how many times you can bounce the ball in a day, then try to break that record...
I survived Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark! I sense that the show’s many misfortunes have all been the work of the snubbed Mysterio.
