Today is the 50th anniversary of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, so today let's take a look at the figures we didn't get.
In 2003, Diamond Select Toys released a series of three Holy Grail figures, featuring Arthur, Sir Bedevere, and Sir Robin. The figures were fine for the time, though they certainly could have been a lot better; maybe if they had been, Series 2 wouldn't have been cancelled.
Sir Lancelot, the Old Man from Scene 24, and Sir Galahad wouldn't have given us every character we needed, but it would at least have given us one figure of all the Pythons (though honestly, Carol Cleveland deserves to be recognized as a member of the troupe, and a Zoot figure would have been welcome, too).
It seems sales on Series 1 simply weren't good enough to make producing Series 2 worth it, but this is certainly a license someone should take a modern attempt at. Imagine today's DST doing these the same way they do Lord of the Rings, with a Knights Who Say Ni Build-A-Figure. Or even a whole bunch of Minimates box sets.
