Here's how the 1975 Greyhawk supplement described Tiamat:
The Dragon Queen: The Chromatic Dragon is a huge creature with five heads, one of each color of the five Chaotic Dragons. Her body is striped in these same colors, and her tail is that of a Wyvern. She can employ all heads at once, either to breath [sic] or cast spells. Her major abode is in a stupendous cavern far beneath the earth. Her guard consists of five dragons, each of largest size, of the five Chaotic types of dragons. Her major aim is to spread evil.
Not even a name or a picture! But the 1977 Monster Manual was much more informative:
A while back, someone unearthed the Marvel Productions Dungeons & Drgaons model sheets and shared them on Reddit. Here are the hand-painted versions of all five of her heads:
What's really amazing is that even decades later, those still line up pretty well with how Tiamat is depicted in official art: armored eyebrows for Red, horns for Black, a spike on the nose for Blue, etc.

Sure, the details have changed, but the underlying idea remains. The toy really can be any version of her you want!
