OAFE Update for Thursday, February 13

Everybody looking forward to Valentine's Day? Everybody looking forward to "Daredevil?"

If this is Thursday (and it is), it must be time for another OAFEnet email update. We've been busy little beavers, yet we still get no love from RTM. Whassup, Maniacs? In their news article about online toy contests (http://www.toymania.com/news/messages/3022.shtml), OAFEnet's Retro Month giveaway gets no mention. How sad! I suppose that gives you a better chance of winning, huh?

In case you've forgotten, February is indeed Old Toys Month at OAFE. We're reviewing everything from childhood favorites to stuff from a few months ago, all while bringing you the newest of the new at the same time. We're also giving away the new ToyFare exclusive MotU Faker (reviewed, of course, at http://www.oafe.net/poe/motu_faker.html) to the collector with the sharpest eye and the most encyclopedic knowledge of toys. Aim for our dedicated page at http://www.oafe.net/retro.html to catch all the reviews and learn how to enter the contest. Free toys are never bad!

Poe's been helming this time machine, giving us a great review of one of his oldest toys and a true '80s icon, Pac-Man: http://www.oafe.net/poe/pacman.html

From hallucinating pillpoppers to burly construction workers, we harken back to a time before Optimus Prime was ever a monkey. It was a better time, with (sort of) better toys. If you love the colors green and purple, roll out to http://www.oafe.net/yo/tfdev.html

In preparation for a review next week, Shocka made a stop in the early '90s to take a look at the one toy that changed everything: Todd Toys' genre-shattering Spawn: http://www.oafe.net/shocka/spawn1.html

Closer to the present, we stopped by the much-missed Spider-Man Classics line to examine the figure that created a frenzy. Here's a hint: the only place you'll ever see an open one is in our Figuretoons: http://www.oafe.net/yo/smcdd.html

Remember, you have until Wednesday, February 26 to get your contest entires to Poe. Take your time. We'll be announcing the winner in that week's update. http://www.oafe.net/retro.html

Rock and roll!
